NFC Disc Lock for Storage Units — Battery-Free Padlock

The KENRONE NFC disc lock for storage units replaces the padlock on your external-hasp, drive-up, and container doors with a battery-free, phone-tap version

Tap an NFC phone to authenticate, then turn the knob to release the shrouded shackle — there is no battery inside the lock to drain or replace.

It brings the same keyless access and cloud management as our cylinder line to the doors a recessed cylinder cannot fit. If you have been looking for a smarter storage unit disc lock, this is the battery-free upgrade.

  • Zero battery in the lock — powered by the phone's NFC field, nothing to charge or swap

  • Shrouded hardened shackle — a discus body leaves little for bolt cutters to grip

  • IP65 sealed — rated for rain, dust, and freeze on outdoor and drive-up doors

  • Phone is the key — no tubular key to snap, no key inventory to manage

How the Battery-Free NFC Disc Lock Works

There is no battery inside the lock. The phone's NFC field supplies the power at the moment of the tap, the same principle a contactless transit card uses. A unit can sit closed for a year and still open on the first tap.

  • Tap — hold your NFC phone to the lock; the field powers it and checks your credential

  • Turn — once authenticated, rotate the knob to draw back the hardened shackle

  • Done — no key, no battery, no dead-lock lockout on a dormant unit

Built for Outdoor and Drive-Up Storage

Drive-up and outdoor units punish a lock: rain, grit, temperature swings, and constant handling. This disc lock is sealed to IP65 and rated from −25°C to +65°C, so winter freeze and summer heat do not stop the tap.

Because the shackle is hardened alloy steel inside a discus body, the usual padlock attack — a bolt cutter on an exposed shackle — has little to grab.

Different door, same technology. If your units use recessed cylinders instead of hasps, the NFC self-storage cylinder lock delivers the same battery-free, phone-tap access.

Built for How Facilities and Tenants Actually Operate

Disc Lock

Where This Fits in a Full Self-Storage Access Control Solution

A real facility is rarely one door type. The disc lock covers hasp, drive-up, and outdoor units while the cylinder covers indoor roll-ups — both managed from one platform. See how a full rollout works on our self-storage access control solution page.
